silver paint marker protects data cd's\ i use your pen-touch gold silver quick dry gold/silver marker extra broad rectangelular tip people are not awahare that the top side of a recordable cd is verry sensitive and if it is even slightly scratched or nicked. it can distroy all the data beyond the scratch. i realized with just a thin coat of paint from the pentouch silver marker it can withstand a great deal more abuse i tested it by using it as i have discribed(by applying a thin coat of paint) i have also tried spray paint... but it is far too messy to compeat with the convienience of paint markers i also have a estors blue fine tip marker i use to label my cd's a treated cd can more durrably withstand being stacked with other cd's without jacketing, placed in a care seat or glove box and tossed arround by driving on a winding road etc... i have treated and reused over 10 cd's i allow them to dry for a minute or so then i put them in my 40x cd drive and let the excess paint spin off inside the drive. i have spun them in my cd burner drive to and their is evidence of a minimum of paint build up. it has no effect on the opperation of iether drive. i record video from my tellescope and occationaly a tv show that i may need to review and news clips and valuable password data and text files and scanner images of receipts from gas and car parts. i received my only touch-pen marker as a gift some time before 1996 and it is in good functioning condition with no leaks and the agitator ball is still free. i started using it to protect dcd's in february 2001 i would never expect a cd of mine to survive without this product. spray paint which works good but the proscess of drying and cleaning nozzel etc.. is too complex and paint can get on the reverse side too easily and has several times. their are adheasive cd labels(sticker) but thjey are verry hard to apply and are verry expencive compared to the number of cd's that can be protected by paint pens. one problem is my paint marker was stept on by me by accident and the pressure forced out too mutch paint and it got on the wrong side but if the cd is treated before writing it has verry little effect on the data. the hub must be left clean with no paint or the cd drive hub will stick and require disassembly of the drive to remove the cd and restore opperabillity of the drive. thankyou http://jsj.8k.com/paint_pen_cd_idea.txt
